working and dla was created by gail norris
Hi, Just a quick question, at the moment I try to work my allocated 10 hours per week which I do with difficulty but feel it keeps me sane. Will the question of whether I work come up at my tribunal, and is it really pos to get dla while working?

Hi,

It's impossible to say, they may ask you out of curiosity, but claimants on DLA are allowed to work. I was on DLA during the 10 years I sat on DLA Tribunals, and never had any problems.

I'm also reproducing a post put up by Crazydiamond, a former DSS Adjudication Officer (now called DWP Decision Makers) which I found using the 'Forum Search' facility:

Decision makers are told that starting work should never, on its own, lead to a claimant’s DLA claim being disallowed.

If you are you going to be getting additional support at work and you are prepared to endure pain and discomfort and you mention it on your claim form, if you will actually require more attention or supervision, you may be entitled to a higher rate of DLA.

If you are concerned about the impact of work on your disability living allowance claim, take your claim pack to an advice agency to discuss how work might affect your DLA entitlement?

Best regards.

Jim
