IB and Pathways to Work was created by peckedhen
I have been on IB for some five years. Following the completion of the form IB50 I received a letter saying that I would continue to receive IB and that I did not need a medical. However, I am now having to attend Pathways to Work Interviews. At the fist one I question it and was told it was because I was due for review. I t6hought that that was it but have now just received another appointment!! Any suggestions please?

Thank you. I thought that Pathways to Work was for people new to ESA not for someone who has been on IB for years.

No, Pathways to Work applies to those in receipt of Incapacity Benefit as well as ESA. This an extract from the link I provided.

When you make a claim for Employment and Support Allowance or incapacity benefits, you will automatically be considered for Pathways to Work.

Only people aged between 18 and the age when you are eligible to receive Pension Credit will automatically be considered. This applies if you are claiming for the first time, or are claiming again after a break in receiving benefit.

Incapacity benefits include:

Incapacity Benefit
Income Support on the grounds of incapacity
Income Support while you are appealing against a decision that you are not incapable of work

Severe Disablement Allowance
Even if you are not automatically considered, you can still apply for help from Pathways to Work if you are entitled to certain benefits because of your health condition or a disability.

Well, along with all the other stuff I've read recently, it's finally decided me not to return an ESA50 form, just cancel ESA claim instead. Unless total financial meltdown is unavoidable they can stuff their happy-clappy snakeoil commissars, cognitive brain-deadeners and private or NGO vampire-vultures hovering to gnaw on the corpse -- oops, meant to write "altruistic professional persons keen to help".
(with the uber-stressed state of my temper nowadays, probably best for all concerned, really)

Thank you. This is the part I fail to understand - I am neither claiming IB for the first time nor have I had a break in receiving IB. So I have to go through six Pathways to Work Interviews. At the last one I was told it was to check all my details were the same. Was my address the same? - yes. Was my date of birth the same? - erm, yes that hasn't changed!!!
