DLA - Consultant report was created by Firstclass
I am due a DLA three year review and recently returned the claim form with supporting evidence from one of my Consultants.
After 8 weeks post submitting the claim form I have just received a letter from DWP saying they are not able to conclude my claim and have written to my Consultant but they have not indicated which one although I suspect it is the pain clinic Consultant. What information are they likely to be looking for? I had completed the form in great detail giving all of my background and problems with mobility and care including details of a forthcoming major operation. I am surprised that they will incur the cost of a Consultants report (surprised if they dont charge) but just wondered why they are doing this. Any advice please?

Hi Firstclass,

It's not realy possible to say why they are contacting your consultant - it could be for any area of your claim for which they think there is insufficient evidence.

Having said that, higher rate mobility tends to be the potential award that is most likely to result in further investigation.

The DWP only have to pay consultants for a report if they are treating the claimant privately, so cost isn't an issue for the decision maker usually. However, consultants can be very slow to respond to enquiries from the DWP.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks Steve!
I presumed that all consultants charged these days but I am seeing this person via NHS so no charge then.
I will just have to see what turns up next when they get back to me.
Cheers
