Apparently the government are banishing sickness and IB will be axed within 4 years.

You would think if nothing else the Doctors would stand up to defend their patients who are ill and on IB surely they care about the welfare of their patients.

Or have they too been brainwashed to feel that work is better for everyone and no matter how ill you are it will make you better.

Funny how they clamp down on people who are sick and recieving benefits but Doctors are well paid. Perhaps the Doctors should be next in line for a pay cut as it looks as if the number of patients they will have to look after will be savagely cut.

Hi, Rose

The Daily Mail story isn't new. We've known for a long time that IB would eventually be axed. As you're aware all new claimants who have become unfit for for work since November 2009 have had to claim Employment Support Allowance (ESA) and all existing IB claimant's migrated to ESA from
this year.

We're now told this will be done by 2014, but it will be interesting to see if this can be achieved. ESA is such a badly thought out benefit, rushed through Parliament without any real debate, and tens of thousands of claimants denied it are told to sign on for Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), only to be told by JobCentre Plus, they're not fit to claim JSA.

There's thousands of of claimants denied ESA waiting for their appeals to be heard, which has clogged up the appeals system.

I predict that ESA will be scrapped within 2 years and replaced with a different benefit which will have to assess sick and disabled people more accurately. The ESA Work Capability Assessment (WCA) had been criticised by many bodies including leading welfare rights organisations, MP's and even by theProfessor who thought up ESA, cant recall his name at present.

We were being told by the tories before the election that ALL current IB claimants were going to be re-tested in the 12 months after the election. So something pretty dramatic has happened.

The Mail has actually posted my somewhat critical comments under the story.

I am so sick of this hyperbole by both the last and this government ( sic ), I have Degenerative Heart Disease & Chronic Osteo Arthritis which is centered in my spine, I have been re-assesed 8 times so far and each time the ordeal get's worse, I am treated like a blight on society and never ever has any assesment simply read the piles of medical records available about my case.

The pills that keep me alive have destroyed my immune system, I have a large hernia ( inoperable due to heart condition ) an umbilicus hernia due to coughing ( broncitis pnemoinia ) etc etc etc, my pain is every second of every day of my miserable existance and still I am treated as second class or worse, my GP has stated on numerous occassions that if any government would gaurantee them protection they would name the shirkers, strewth they are best placed to know, instead we get a half arsed target led criminal phiasco were the shirkers always know how to play the system and are helped by unscruopulous agency's. enough leave us genuine claiments alone.

I don't know what is making me seethe the most.
The new plans by the Condemns or the sheer ignorance of the majority of daily Fail readers who think because you can type a reply on a newspaper article you are fit for work!
