Hi Lizzie

The information that i sent was a letter from my dr, but the 6 pages extra typed was from myself explaining my condition and how it affected me in great detail. The reason it was typed was because i have limited mobility in my hands/arms so had to rely on someone else to type it for me. On each page i had my national ins no/name/address and i signed every page. They also used details from a medical that i had for esa, which i failed but was later overturned before the appeal. So it goes to show despite what the medical said DLA were prepared to listen to my GP and myself. Please try not to worry about it 4 years is a long way off and there could be even more changes by then. This is one of my grandads sayings "every day is a gift which is why it is called the present" So i always live for today!!! Hope this helps you!

Kind regards
Julie

Hi Denise

Dont quote me on this but as you are 59 now i dont think you would have to have a medical for work purposes. I am 46 and i know that i wont be able to work again unless they find a cure and this also worries me, but, anything could happen in 2013, like i have said to Lizzie ESA/DLA have both chosen to listen to my GP and myself. I do agree with them looking into people making fraudulent claims as i know it is rife, but it is these people that give people with a genuine disability a bad name. So i am trying to stay positive as i really dont see how you would be expected to work with your disability.

Kind regards
Julie

Hi Zelda

I know what you mean about being shellshocked i was the very same when i opened that dreaded brown envelope from DLA. I was expecting to have a fight on my hands again like i did last time when it went to a tribunal. If like you say we have to have a medical by ATOS my success with ESA has proved that they do look at all the information supplied and not just from the ATOS dr. If my ESA had been down to ATOS dr then i would have lost my ESA as i was awarded only 9 points but the decision was overturned and i am now in the support group. I hope this does give you some comfort knowing that they look at everything and you can submit additional information to them.

Kind regards
Julie

Hi Kath, i too suffer with fibromyalgia as well as COPD and heart problems, i had my renewal in april this year and got my award indefinately, all i can say is, just be totally Honest and describe to them in as much detail as possible your very worst day from getting up, to going to bed also tell them about any medical aids that you use.I know that it is very worrying but you should be fine if you give them enough detail, I wish you the very best of luck, and be sure to let us know the outcome, Take care, fingers crossed,Donna.

Fraudulent claims are not rife, and I'm unhappy to read such a statement here. You seem to have fallen for the government propaganda which their current policy of attacking all sick and disabled claimants is based on.

As far as I know, DLA fraud is half of one per cent - very low indeed.
