Who would follow me: the DWP or Insurance Company

My theory is it is an opportunist that got your name from some advertising agency and just wanted to get in to see what he could get out of you by saying you wanted to take his picture you put the wind up him and he wanted to get out as quick as possible.

so its an opportunist criminal type person that goes round doing this for a living most probably concentrating on old people conning them out of there money.

For instance Hello you have been left a lot of money in a will from a relative in Cardiff but as I am from a private investigation company in order to conclude the investigation we have to cover part of our cost before going on further with the claim.

Hi Linsky,

This is not a criticism of what you did, we can all be caught off our guard.

However, I would warn members to be wary of people calling at their homes who cannot show an identity card. Tell them to go or you'll call the police, then shut your door.

Bona fide callers will always carry an identity card, be they DWP staff, insurance companies or private investigation companies.

Be alert to this kind of episode.

Best wishes.

Jim

Hi, after two lengthy insurance claims ( car and personal injury)of 4years in the last 6 months before settlement i had cars parked outside my house , with a guy taking photos of me carrying shopping and watching me in the garden, as i had stated i had limited ability in these areas! so watch out! also had a guy asking for a ficticious neighbour, I told him he was a private eye to which he admitted and after a chat he apologised and left. So yes it does happen, so watch out for your self and DO NOT let anybody in your house even if they look like police men, ask for ID before even talking to them ! best wishes Rap.

Try and have the Police do him for stalking you Linsky.

IMHO It's more probable than not that he's an insurance investigator.

i had an accident at work in 1987. i damaged my spine and legs (in another post the ATOS doctor would not put it in the IB85)

anyway, my solicitor called me to say he had a video of me and a mate in a shopping centre from the insurance company.

i got the tape and to my suprise, it shows me getting petrol and the next part, i'm in essex (i lived in gateshead) the vid was so well edited, till you look at the time on the video. it helped me win my case as they tried to prove i did all the walking in 1 day. it was over 4 days by the time on the recording.

love to have seen the bill for that 1.

always look at the time and date of the recording and what clothes you have on to see if you have changed them. even your shoes are a clue that it's not on the same day

Hello and thanks to all whom answered my original question.

Today I have found out via my Solicitor that it was the insurance company whom followed me. They told him via their Solicitors that they are not intending to use the footage.

I don't know what footage they have, but it could amount to much as I don't do much and if there was anything materially beneficial to them, they would certainly try to capitalise on such.

Kind Regards

Linsky
