In the longer term.

Nothing suprises me with the ESA medicals any longer. Despite a massive list of clinical conditions stated as in place and causing 'moderate' (in their view) and a note saying expected to be ready for return to work in 6 months - so you would think qualification for 6 months - hubby got no points and stopped ESA at any rate. We have contact a benefit adviser who ahs filled in appeal (and was very interested in my B & W discrediting medical information  ) but she advised about 6 months until appeal. All this waiting does not help mental health problems at all, but at least a bit of respite until then.

I couldn't agree more Maximus.

I've just had an ESA medical while appealing against and IB decision. When the doctor said that it will take 5 weeks to get a decision, I felt like telling the doctor, there's no hurry, take as long as you like.

If I fail the medical and have to claim JSA, I can see myself appealing against IB, ESA and a Jobseekers Agreement or a JSA sanction all at the same time.

I intend to become self-employed at some time in the future when my health improves, but I have been so busy preparing my appeal statements and coping with the stress, I have not have the time to worry about my health or make plans for the future.

Best of luck to you and your hubby

Derek

Hubby's appeal for ESA was accepted by DWP 5th August but as yet his payments have not been reinstated pending the appeal hearing. How long usually before they are recommenced?

Also he won an IIB appeal for one of his conditions on the 19th August and has still not received anything from them either. Is it time to start phoning?

Hi,

Yes it could be worth making contact. However personally I would write (keeping a back copy) using recorded/special delivery to ensure firstly they receive it, and secondly that you are not 'fobbed off' on the phone. If you do ring, obtain the details of whom you speak to and time of the call etc.

Pete
