Filling in change of circumstance form for DLA

I am borderline to filling in change of circumstances form regarding DLA. Not wanting to face repayments or fraud allegations as the govt are pushing for in these "tough times for them".

At present I am in receipt of HRC and LRM. If the DM takes these payments away from me what is the likeliehood that he will also put in the "fit for work" group, in other words, would this also affect my IB? I am certainly not capable of holding down a job every day and at 53years of age, whom would employ me anyway!

These things cause so much stress that being honest brings about pitfalls.

I have read the good guide on this site re: change of circumstances and feel that I could be just on the wrong side of the fence.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated

Hi Linsky,

We cannot advise you whether or not you should inform DLA Unit, that decision has to be yours, since we don't know to what extent your needs have changed

The rules state that if there is a change in circumstances, for example your condition worsens or improves, then legally you have to report this.

DLA is as you're aware paid to those with mobility and/or care needs.

IB is paid because of incapacity to work.

The assessments for each benefit are carried out differently, so if you do lose your DLA your IB shouldn't be affected.

My advice would be to contact a local advice agency such as the CAB or similar
and seek 'face to face' advice from them.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Thanks Jim,
I think I'll err on the side of caution and fill in the change of circumstances form and hope that they don't penalise me by putting me in some work group etc.
Kind Regards
