Hi Survivor, thankyou for your honest and open post.

I think what you have said applies to most mental health 'illnesses'.

I don't think anyone at my surgery regards me as having a depressive illness anymore. I take anti depressants, so they assume I am fine.

I am never asked how I am, just asked if I'm ready to reduce my meds! I'm not even sure they know I self harm.

I'm like one of the quiet children at school who gets ignored because they don't make a fuss :)

You're right Marit, in saying med's are only the baseline for care. The care team is meant to be multidisciplinary. The CPN sounds as if they have been designated keyworker for your son and is therefore, the first line of intervention.

If your son continually expresses concern over the WCA and the deleterious effect it is having, this will be documented. Your son could request his notes, or give permission for you to, from the local health authority, whose address may be provided by the GP or CPN.

This is a risk, possibly damaging his relationship with the care team, but would provide many useful sources of written evidence as to the nature of his condition. The team may chose to redact certain notes, if judged harmful. There will be a lot of paper...

Just had a quick look, it states that it is about PCA (IB) NOT WCA (ESA).

True enough, I mentioned that in my 'overlong' post, but my point is, given that the DWP knows the prognosis of those with Sz,

www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-g...gnosis-and-duration/

should those with this diagnosis be placed in a position where they have to show the glass 'half empty'?
