Am only receiving Dla nothing else have recently been asked to attend a wfi, my husband rang them to say that i was too ill to attend the jobcentre as am very ill with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis throughout much of my body.
They seemed fine with this but have asked to see my medical records at jobcentre, do i have to do this as i now have a new doctor whom i have not seen yet, am really worried sick as i believe this to be a precurser to something worse.

Hi Jenny

Your medical records should have be transferred to your new doctor when you registered with the surgery, and obtainable from there.

However, I really think that you should get face-to-face advice from the CAB or other welfare rights organization. A joint claim makes things a little more complicated but perhaps they could consider if you could claim ESA, as clearly, you do not feel well enough to look for work.

Best wishes

Derek

I may be wrong but I wasn't aware that DLA was a requirement for attending a Work Focused Interview as it is not classed as an "out of work" benefit.

I don't think its to do with DLA its the JSA claim of here husband..............................

Joint Claims for Jobseeker's Allowance (Income Based) was introduced as part of the Government's Welfare to Work reforms. It aims to:
•reduce the number of households where currently no one works by requiring both members of a couple to look for work or training •help you, if you are working part time, to increase your hours or improve your employment prospects. Both members of a couple satisfying certain criteria will be required to be available for work as a condition of receiving Jobseeker's Allowance (Income Based).

If your partner receives a means-tested benefit such as Income Support or income-based ESA, as a condition of receiving their full entitlement, the other partner who is the subject of the claim may have to attend a work-focused interview for partners. These interviews were introduced in April 2004 for IS and have now been extended to ESA(IB).

If the afore-mentioned situation does not apply to your own particular circumstances, then there is a possibility that an error has occurred, and you should therefore contact your JCP/BD office to find out whether you are required to attend for a WFI?

So if she's (sorry to talk about you Jenny in the 3rd person) only claiming DLA as she has said above then why does she need to go for a WFI as DLA is not a benefit that requires one. I can't see anywhere in her post where she says anything about her husband's situation with respect to any benefits concerning him.
