thats an easy 1. type it into google. if it's the dwp or a company, it will say.

if not, type the first 5 numbers. it will say what area it's from. that might give you a clue who it is.

another tip is, on your phone, dial 141 eg 141 123456(that will hide your number) then the number. see who answers and if you don't know who it is, hang up

I now never answer the phone or do business with people who wont leave a message.
Is its important they will leave a message,or write a letter.
Its is not very wise also give give personal info such as Ni number over the phone even if you know who is calling.
Stick to old fashioned recorded delivery mail when dealing with the DWP/ATOS for all but the simplest enquirys

Hi

I have also had those calls and i have answered them, more often than not it is a sales call other times its an automated message. I know what you mean though if it was DWP it would come up as withheld not private, looks like my fone system is similar to yours. It actually ays private where the tel no would be! Is that correct? If thats the case and they become a nuiscence ask them where they got your no from!!! They soon hang up!!

Sometimes i get these calls every hour and i only pick up now if i recognise the no. If it was DWP they would leave a message. To be certain have a lok in the members area where Steve has done an article re full numbers for DWP instead of the 0845 no that charge to ring them!!!

Good luck
Mm :) a smile costs nothing
