Incapacity Benefit was created by A Goldsmith
My son aged 23 receives Income support and DLA. It has been suggested he apply for Incapacity Benefit. Is this a good idea or are there pitfalls. If he was turned down would this put his DLA at risk?

getting dla does not mean he would get IB depends whats wrong with him..... also in this day and age if he goes for IB and needs a medical there is always the chance the report might be passed onto the dla unit who could do as they please with it IMO

Hello A Goldsmith.
Your son would not be able to apply for IB these days but would have to apply for ESA which is paid subject to passing the much maligned Work Capability Assessment conducted by ATOS.

All the best
