So my question is should I wait until all the paper work is in place.. after my appointment on Feb 16th 2011 with my MS nurse. Or should I re-apply in the next few days. Either way makes no difference to myself. I just want to give myself the maximum opportunity of obtaining my goal of getting in the support group.

Tim

It's bery difficult for people on this forum to give definitive advice, simply because we don'y have all the information available.

From your post it would sound like there will be additional evidence available to you if you were to wait, so this might be the best course.

That said, by re-applying for ESA you are opening yourself up to a full re-evaluation of your disabilities, which could result in your losing your current benefits. You might retain your current benefits but still not be placed in the Support Group in which case you would need to appeal.

That is why it is being recommended that you seek face to face advice from an appropriate agency.

Stephen.

So by an appropriate agency who are you suggesting. The CAB or someone else. I am naive when it comes to knowing about agencies. Who would you suggest. Thank you

Thank you Mr. Diamond.. I will phone my local CAB and try to arrange an appointment asap.. Thanks to X Factor and Stephen as well.. Your help and advice has been most useful. Hopefully the result will be what is correct. (What a pain in the backside all this ESA is.)

Hi Tim,

Having had MS myself since the mid 80's, some but not all local branches of the MS Society can offer advice and help.

Call head office for details of local branches.

Tel:0808 800 8000 E-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Until my MS confinedme to a wheelchair, I was the voluntary WRO for my local branch, and often represented appellants at appeals for IB & DLA.

You don't need to be a member of the MS Society to qualify for help.

Also, being in receipt of DLA HRM & MRC should help your ESA claim.

Good luck.

Jim
