House Move & Mail From JobCentrePlus was created by toggleuk
Newbie here..Just Joined tonight
After two years of antisocial behaviour and harrasment I was finally offered a new home, but had to sign tenancy at short notice to secure the place while working out a 4 week end of tenancy on the old place. Needless to say, with my disability, it took the whole 4 weeks to make to the transition from one place to the other and as with any house move it was fraught with problems and very stressful. I tried to ensure that everyone who needed to be advised, banks, credit card companies, telephone/internet provider, utility companies etc, were all advised. Couple of weeks ago I rec'd 3 forms to complete from JobCentrePlus - 1) Stating they believed I had moved home and wanted details of the date infering that any delay over 1 month might affect my entitlement to benfits. (I had informed DWP but forgot to tell JobCentre in all the mayhem of the move within the 1 month deadline) I explained how my illness and memory problems and move mayhem, had caused this oversight. Not heard back from them in past 2 weeks..any thoughts about what might happen? 2) A letter stating that as I was in reciept of HRM I might be entitled to Severe Disability Premium - fill in the attached Form. I'm puzzled as I already have been receiving SDP for the past 12 years? 3) If i wished to continue receiving HB and CT fill in another form and return to the Housing Benefit Dept at the Council. I spoke with a lady at the Local Council HB Unit and she told me they had already transferred my HB/CT entitlements to the new property based on forms completed by the new Housing Association and were already making payments to them so no need to complete the form.
I stress out REALLY easily because of age and illness..(am 59) Does anyone think i'll have 'problems' down the road over these 3 forms?
P.S. Have been watching/reading the forum posts for a few weeks and am overwhelmed at the great advice available..especially the 'recording medicals' thread for tb1uk..it read better than a John Grisham Thriller...am just disheartened about his med points outcome :( Don't let the bug*as grind you down..hugs

The last time I moved, all this happened to me.

The first thing is, don't panic.

You told the DWP, so if they're questioning it in the JCP, point out that the information of change of address should have been input on their computer system by the other department. It is quite reasonable for you as an ordinary member of the public not to realise which bits of the DWP expected to be told separately.

You've got the council benefits sorted, so that's fine. If the letter telling you about those was from the DWP, don't worry, it's just routine. So long as the council knows, it'll be fine. You may need to chase them up to make sure all is well if there's any delay with your council benefits.

The bit about the severe disability premium foxed me when I first got my letter, too, but it's quite simple, really. You only get it if you're not living with anyone over 18 who's not on DLA, so the DWP needs to check that you're not doing that at your new address before continuing this premium, so you fill in the form and it's sorted.

I hope that this will set your mind at rest.

OMG! The speed of that answer makes the subscription price worthwhile already! Re JCP - that was my main worry and have the answer to give them now if theres any comeback (it was 2 months after the move before I heard from them). Re HB/CT The council were aware. I did have some probs because of asking for a 4 week overlap on HB request based on duff advice from the new Housing Assoc which was turned down anyway, but HB/CT is in place and active on new place now. Re SDP, I completed the form confirming I live alone, have no partner and other questions were not applicable, signed/dated the form and sent it back. Thanks Survivor - Your a star!
I have another query on which I need advice..but will leave that until tomorrow/later..need a stiff vodka to calm my nerves now...LOL

I don't promise fast replies on everything! I just could tackle that one quickly because of having faced exactly the same situation myself.
