What happens to claim if returning to work?

Hello all,
I have been off work since Feb 2009 with a bowel prob. I have been receiving treatment for my condition but have not responded to the treatment enough to allow me to return to work. In Sept of this year I was hospitalised due to the effects of a change in treatment so it was stopped and I am now taking basic medication for my disease.
Over the last 6 weeks though I have noticed an improvement in my condition and if this continues, I will be looking to return to work in the new year.
My question is, what will happen to my claim for ESA. Last March I had a medical and was awarded 6 points and I appealed. I am still waiting for the appeal. I receive a small occupational pemsion and because of this, I am only paid £7.00 a fortnight. If I win my appeal would this amount increase. Also, I made a claim for council tax reduction but was not given. Would this change if I win my appeal.
I have borrowed money from parents over the last year in order to pay my way but I am slowly going under.
Sorry for the long post. Any comments would be helpful.

While you are wating for your appeal to be heard you receive ESA assessment rate, should you win your appeal then you will receive ESA at either the WRAG or Support Group rates. See here

With the difference backdated.

You don't say how much your pension is, so it is impossible say is there will be any further reduction due to the overlap.

Hi Volvomanx

It is not possible to give advice on individual circumstances as we do not cover Council Tax and do not have enough information about your claim for it. You would need to seek face-to-face advice.

If you start work before the outcome of your appeal, your appeal will continue regardless, as you are only appealing for entitlement to ESA until the day you start work.

From the link that Gordon posted, I would presume that your ESA payments have been reduced because of your pension. If your appeal succeeds I would expect that you receive back payments of the ESA component that you are awarded.

Regards

Derek
