ESA and cancer. was created by david57
My wife has breast cancer and is undergoing chemo.
She is getting SSP at the moment - when this runs out and she has to apply for Esa would she have to go through all the rubbish they put on you or would she be exempt.

She has worked all her life from since she left school and has never been on benifits.

I am on IB and DLA - would this trigger a review for me as well. (ib runs out in July)

Thanks all.

I would expect your wife to have to fill in an ESA50, but based on your description of her treatment, she should be exempt from the WCA medical. You can read about the process and exmptions for ESA in the Understanding ESA document in the Members area.

Your wife's claim should not cause a re-assessment of your own, but you may be transferred to ESA as part of the IB Transfer, on or after July.

Hope this helps
