DLA & ESA Appeals tomorrow..... was created by John
Hello all...

I have my DLA & ESA appeals tomorrow, I thought i may struggle to sleep tonight but i could not sleep last night. I just seem to be thinking of everything that can go wrong. That is life I suppose and I do have a very strong and well supported case.

I have been trying to keep some kind of diary as I am expecting to be asked to go into detail on what i did the day before and then the day before that etc....how much detail are they exactly looking for?
Each day is pretty much the same, times, actions etc it looks like someone has just copied day for day. I rarely go out so my day does not change will that make any difference.

I was very confident up until the last couple of days and not too worried....probably silly but it has been 17 months of struggle and hopefully it ends tomorrow which is a very very important day for me.

Thanks for all the great help.

Fingers crossed John but if you have filled your paperwork in given it plenty of thought got all the supporting letters you can you could not have done anymore .. so try not to worry

its not silly and I dont think your alone in having a bit of a worry before the big day ;)

if you dont mind me asking whats wrong.. and is there a good interlock between ESA claim and DLA are people who have supported your ESA same as the ones who wrote for DLA ?

good luck

Hi Dave my main condition that causes my disability is Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

I think it is a fairly common condition in most cases and most would not know they had it. However it depends on the degree like anything, there are 3 stages stage 1 which 74% of people fall into, stage 2 25% of sufferers fall into and stage 3 which only 1% sufferers will fall into.

I have abcesses in 5 areas of my body but mainly my groin that almost constant, there is no cure for the disease and there is a theory that the treatment antibiotics can strngthen and progress the disease.

Christmas time was spent in hospital, before that it was november etc etc I have had about 8 visits to hospital over the past 15 months and district nurses almost live with me.....it has taken over my life completley because the size of them the area they are in and being almost constant.

GP is very supportive, hospital consultants...hmmmm dermatologists are pretty useless, surgeons are fine but they just doa simple in and out removal job. Plastic surgeon can do me a procedure but he is reluctant as it means removing both groins almost completely, a year or so of recovery and low chance of succes less than 40% and I alos have the problem under my arms, my lower abdomen and behind my ears to lesser extent now but.....

I am now in the support group for ESA Dave, I am appealing not being in the support group but wrag first time round. My original medical was full of assumptions and inaccuracies. DLA was totally refused but no mediacl and based purely the basis of the medical services dr opinion of how HS would affect me....

My supoorting evidence from my GP and the district nurses folder from the care they have given fully backs up my case for care and mobility but you still worry.....

Incidentally Dave, I think it is yourself that likes to know a lot of illnesses and heard of them at least. Do you know anything about Forrestier's disease aka DISH Diffuse Idiopathic Skelatal Hyperostosis??
