My DLA claim has been turned down for my son who is 2 yrs 9 months. He has chronic lung disease amongst other ailments which makes it hard for him to walk full stop. Is it worth appealing now or wait til May when he is 3 and do a new form, which I dont mind doing....as it may swing it then with the mobility side....any thoughts?

Hi maryjane,

It's a tough one.

There's also nothing to stop you appealing and putting in a supersession request when your son reaches three if you've either had an award or - more likely - your appeal is still in a long queue.

Each option has its advantages and disadvantages.

Good luck, whatever you decide,

Steve

thanks for this Steve - I think I may wait. His twin brother's renewal is up so will concentrate on that I think. On the same vein - his twin is 3 on May 12, dla i think runs out 8 may. I guess they would assess the renewal of the twin as a 3 yr old would they, even if i put the renewal in early, eg 2 months before his bday?
