DLA Advice plesae regarding a car was created by Jude
Hi,
Thanks to this site I got a five year award high care/ mobility. My illness has got worse. My Angina is really bad and also my Asthma too, along with list of other problems. I'm 51 and I am starting having driving lessons as I now also have Arthritis in my hip, shoulder and knee. I know I can get a mobility car but do not know how I would go about this. I was not sent anything from the DLA. Also wondering if it would be worth me having a car if they are going to medical me with the new rules and probably stop my benefit and then take the car away.Has this happened. Also would they see this as me being recovered by learning to drive? I am separating from my husband, very worried about being alone, and wondering how I will cope. Are there other things I can claim when I live alone I get SDA too.

Hi Amber, You can get your mobility car, Dealers advertise in the national and local press. Or you can contact the DLA at blackpool (there should be contact numbers on your letters from them) It is quite easy to get a vehicle. Regarding the possible loss of your award in the future nobody knows yet for certain what is happening. Best Wishes

Hello Amber.
I am due to take delivery of a car with the Motability scheme next month, all i did was called up the dealership of the make of car i fancied (VW) and asked to speak to their Motability specialist.

I was picked up by the salesman at the bus station and taken for a test drive, we had a wee chat after that and i agreed to go ahead with it, it couldn't be easier!

You will need to bring a Utility bill as proof of address and your DLA award letter and driving licence, that is if you decide to go ahead of course.

There are loads of cars with no downpayment, i could have had a Polo for zero downpayment but i am paying £999 towards a Golf, always wanted a Golf! :)

Best of luck
Ranald
