Incap Benefit for Overseas Claims was created by Sallykinos
Does anyone know what is going to happen to those Overseas Incap Benefit Claimiants?
My husband is on long term (to retirement age) Incap and we do not get assessed by Medical but by a very long form sent out every 2 years. the form was due last year but did not arrived? ESA does not fit overseas profiles.
Thanks to anyone who has any info.

I have heard of some people having over seas medicals war pensions do it and have heard of someone in france having a medical for IB, there is no way they will miss you out for medicals for the esa move as if they do people in the UK will claim its unfair ... unless your very sick

ps is the form IB50 ? everyone gets that :) DWP dont do short forms :)

Assuming you husband is not of retirement age before 2014, then he should expect to be transferred.

The following site explains ESA eligibility for claimants living abroad.

This is something I am also very worried about. We live in a rurual area in France. I have been relying on Incap Benefit since 2000, and since moving here my husband's spine has started to degenerate. I would like to write to someone (an MP?) about our situation, to question the "wisdom" of changing IB to ESA in our circumstances. Any ideas?

We are not claiming IB or DLA for my husband from England, but we do get some help from France "on the back of" my IB from England. If they stop the IB I am worried we may have to leave Europe and return to England, in which case, God knows what benefits we will be eligible for!
