I think that it must be terribly frustrating to do one of these courses when you already have the skills.

I hope you'll find it all a bit easier when you've got the actual form to look at. Have you done the self-assesment on the homepage? That would give you an idea of what aspects of your health/disability would be relevant to a claim, and then you can read our guides and ask us to clarify stuff as you work your way through the paperwork.

Hi Mike.

You refer to autism, epilepsy, depression and a history of self-harm and you are obviously extremely worried about how you will be effected by the benefit changes.

Am not sure how long you have been on IB or whether you have had to attend medicals in the past. Is your GP fully aware of your conditions including history of self harm and the worries you have about the changes to the benefit system? If not would your mum go with you to have a chat with your GP?

Have you had a talk with your mum about the ESA form and how the guides on Benefits and Work can help? It may be that the 'exceptional circumstances rule' could be applied to you, but would recommend you describing your difficulties in as much detail as possible.

All quite complicated so don't forget that you and your mum can also contact an autism support organisation for advice.

Try not to worry.
