I fully endorse that advice,and also if you do answer the phone tell them you can't undersand what they are saying and ask for a letter or email to be sent for a friend to read to you.

Personaly i would want a paper trail when dealing with the DWP or more so with ATOS.

Can you tell them you dont understand if your illness is just physical ? if your job prior to being ill was one which needed use of a phone such a claim would be a lie.

I think better to talk and ask them to put what was said in a letter so there is no miss understanding

"I'm very sorry but I've got really bad diarrhea, please can you send me a letter?'

We'll ring back when you are off the loo.

I must admit, caller ID is one of the best facilities I pay for.

If they leave a message when I can't answer the phone I may be able to phone back.

If no message is left, no worries!
