Rem-ploy was created by cmarie510
Hello everyone,
I recently attended a Pathways to Work interview. I reluctantly agreed to discuss how I might be assisted to work and at work with advisors at Remploy.

This morning I picked up a message on my phone from an employee of Remploy informing me that an appointment letter was on its way.

Two things come to mind. My tremors which affect both my hands and body and balance have gotten worse and I have now been given an appointment at the Neurology Hospital in London (this will be a second opinion). (I also have severe degeneration of the spine and both hips have total hip replacements and in this last year have developed bi-lateral claw toe which I think is because of the nerve damage)

My first thought is to cancel for the time being. Postpone would be more accurate. I did strongly indicate to the PtoW advisor that I felt my working, even for an hour, was problematic and not overlooking painful as well as dangerous.

Would anyone know about Remploy? Are they like my advisor payed by commission? Would it be best to go, as I did to the PtoW and further emphasise my current condition?

Thanks in advance for your time and ideas.

Hi Cmarie

There's information in the members' area regarding your rights at WFIs. They have to take you health into consideration when giving you assignments so you could phone and explain the situation, and ask for the appointment to be postponed until you feel well enough. There is no guarantee that they will postpone but there is no harm in asking.

Good luck

Derek

Thanks for your thoughts about this. I will give them a call tomorrow. In the meantime I will re-read the document regarding WFIs.

DepressedDerek, hearing from you really helps. Best money I have ever ever ever ever spent.
