Anyone had a phoneall about transfer IB to ESA

Phew, my fear of brown envelopes had already grown to include white ones, cant cope with phone fear too!

Had my letter saying they would be phoning in the next 14 days and if they didnt I am to phone them. Was last assesed for IB 3 months ago and got a 12 month award.

It sounds like you and Adrian are being transferred to ESA, despite only recently having had an IB assessment.

If your conditions are sufficiently bad (sorry!), it may be that you will be placed in the ESA Support without any further input in your part.

If they are not that bad, then you will likely receive an ESA50 to complete, on returning this, there is a further opportunity for you to be placed in the Support Group or possibly the WRAG, without the need for a medical, but it is more likely that you will have to attend the ESA medical test (WCA), before a decision can be made.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest you seek face to face advice from your local CAB or Welfare Rights office, to help you through the process. In addition, have a look at our ESA guides in the Members area, which explain the process and how to complete the ESA50 based on your disabilities.

Gordon, I read your reply with interest. Does this mean that a DWP decision maker can make a judgement on entitlement to esa based on information held re ib? despite the fact that the criteria are very different?
