The original letter dated 13/11/10 stated that the DLA had received information which casts some doubt on my entitlement to DLA. I was instructed to complete the renewal form within two weeks, I did this with the invaluable assistance of Benefits & Work Publishing. After some time I received another letter saying they wanted me to assessed by a healthcare professional. I duly rang Atos and asked for a home visit. A very nice Doctor came to see me. Although over an hour early he spent over an hour with me and was willing to listen. I wanted the home visit for particular reasons. My sheltered flat is designed for me, there is nothing higher than wheelchair height. I can get in and out of bed with the aids I have been provided by Occupational Health. My bathroom is being adapted with a grant of £6000 from the County Council. I wanted to show the doctor everything even down to my kettle that boils a cup of water at a time so I can make my coffee in relative safety.

I must say dear reader, insist on a home visit. This way they can see how you live and conduct your life. Follow the important advice and information on this site. The last five months have been a nightmare as one hears of some horrific stories of how picky decision makers can be.

In today's letter there is only on relevant paragraph:

Thank you for filling in the enquiry form. We have looked at the information you gave us and decided the the Disability Living Allowance benefit payment is being paid at the correct rate. There will be no change in the amount of money you get from us.

A hearty thank you to B & W Publishing, Moderators, and all members for their advice and support throughout the last five months.

Best wishes,

Paul

you very much for letting us know that, my situation is not dissimilar to yours and I anticipate that I too would need a home visit as I similarly live in adapted sheltered accommodation. I hope you'll let us know what happened in the end and I hope it is a happy outcome for you; all of us who have been placed in a difficult situation by the law of accident are your brothers and I'm sure we all wish you well.

Best
Peter

PS your post is particularly helpful to me because I did not really believe that anyone could come to see me; it demonstrates that the system is not quite so cruel perhaps.
