Hello again Everyone,

Sorry to come back again but I feel better if each detail is made clear. Rachel/Fedup kindly replied to my question about sending documents to ESA in Glasgow.

With the future in mind, as I already sent my fit-note in, do you suggest sending all things going to ESA as registered mail?

Also, where do I get ESA pre-addressed (?) envelopes? I do save all docs that come to me re: DLA, HBenefit and now ESA, but I am quite sure I was not in receipt of an envelope from ESA.

Thanks again,
cmarie :)

Hi cmarie,

I'm afraid I don't know anything about pre-addressed envelopes. But registered mail is a good idea for important documents. However, it is expensive so the alternative is to copy everything - all important documents should be copied anyway - and get proof of posting from the post office.

Hi cmarie,

When my medical certificate is about to run out DWP has been sending a reminder & an envelope to send the new certificate in. Maybe they will do this for your next one.

I don't send things registered post as I object to paying each time but I do photocopy documents I fear may be 'lost'. It's not a bad idea to photocopy medical certificates too as they sometimes enter the wrong date into the system so it's good to have a copy yourself to check. I use a scanner to copy things which is in the house but I realise it's a bit of a pain if you have to pay to copy things and find somewhere to get them done.

The DWP should provide freepost envelopes for sending supporting docs like Fit note. If you have not been sent one phone up and ask for the freepost address, they should give it to you, although the initial call costs as much as the post, you then have the address which you can use for anything you need to send.
I suspect sending them this way is the most efficient as it will be the post that goes direct to the correct office, whereas registered letters prob have to go through a different section to be signed.
