wifes cont/based esa was created by wilton
can anyone explain this situation.my wife recently finished work due to ill health and has recently been awarded HRM/LRC.She has just recieved letter saying she has been granted cont/based esa of £67.50.She has also just recieved an esa50 lcw questionnaire to be returned by june 27.It then states if she is still claiming this benefit after 26 weeks I myself as her partner will need to attend a work focused interview. Now i,ve been on IB since 1990,s after suffering three strokes and was expecting to be reassessed due to the changeover of IB to ESA anyway but as yet have recieved no correspondence to me personally. So why does it mention about me on her form attending WFI.

I knew they did this for Income Related ESA, as my wife, who is herself disabled, was "invited" to a WFI, but I didn't think they would for ESA(CB) as you are not included in the claim.

That aside, it's because you do not work, and the system is not clever enough to realise that this is because you have been unfit to do so.

I'm afraid, for ESA, attendance is mandatory, the best you might be able to do is have it deferred, but I think it unlikely that you will be able to do this for any significant period.
