My DLA uprating letter came today do I have to tell ESA people the new rate or do they know automatically? If they don't do I send a photo copy or the original copy or can I just phone them the new details?

Many thanks....

Hi W,

No, you don't have to contact ESA regarding this !

Besides, there is no "uprating"/new rate this year !!

See : This Post

Even if you were in receipt of Income Related (IR) ESA, DLA nor PIP are classed as household income for the purposes of the IR ESA means test !

Pip question - planning a Journey

Not had my pip form yet still on DLA but been thinking of the Questions for when I do get it.

planning a Journey

I hardly go out anywhere on my own Now

I go to a day Centre two days a week when they take us out they plan everything we don't have to do anything we even have wheelchair pushers, I seldom go to town and when I do I get a taxi and just go in to get meds or I go to town for a meal with my sis who drives us there so I don't plan anything again .

I use to go to London with a friend once a year for a weekend that's now stopped but she planned everything from trains to getting to the hotel could I do it on my own yes if it was the same hotel same train changes but to a different place I'd be too scared to do it on my own not sure How I would cope as she helped carry things luggage help me up steps or find a lift for me helped me on busses , get food for me carry it no I don't think I could do any of this on my own so planning or following a Journey I'll be too scared to do it on my own now would this count as planning and following a journey ?

I'm sure that it is the way you have phrased your post but it suggests that these are things that you do not do or are done for you, rather than things that you cannot do. You will only score points if you can show that you cannot complete the PIP activities.

Planning a journey is a different activity from following a route, so if you have issues in this area then you must explain your limitations for both activities.

The Going Out activity is aimed at claimants with mental health, cognitive or sensory issues, I would not expect someone with physical issues to score points for this activity, that would be covered under the Moving Around activity.
