Prognosis medium term and not to badly written but does contradict a fair bit with the rest of the report..
And a fair few inaccuracies compared to paper based medical evidence in my favor ..
Although i do realize under this currant system I am one of the luckier ones.
Of interest mentions a med3 Cant see how have never had one!!
Still, this report makes clear besides the software used the assessors are not readily responsive to the disabled being in receipt of benefits..
From what i can glee from it all i am being made to start a new claim/and having to build one up to a longer prognosis despite or even inspite of overwhelming medical evidence.
Am utterly disgusted and degraded by the whole process.
People i can not express enough the value of submitting accurate medical evidence And collecting this months in advance!!
Is it true there is a very high chance the ESA report will be used against a PIP claim?

Hi c6,
It is very common for a Med 3 (Fit Note) to be mentioned even when the claimant has not had one from their G.P. for many year.
It seems to be a pre-generated statement by the LiMA software that they use.
ESA Medical Reports, "may" be used for PIP even though former Minister Esther McVey stated that they wouldn't be.
However, ESA & PIP are totally separate benefits with different qualifying descriptors.
The are very few cross-overs with the two.
e.g. ESA "Mobilising" includes the use of a manual wheelchair, PIP Mobility "Moving Around" is purely a "Walking Test".

"Hi c6,

Could never work with this disability from birth so have never had a fit note.
The system is broken, trial and error , hit and miss as to whether any of them know what they're doing

Hi c6,
Yep, the LiMA software has stock phrases that the Assessor can choose to include in the ESA85/ESA85A Medical Report.
They simply choose from a drop-down list.
They often state that the Med 3 has been referred to as evidence in making their recommendations, when there is no Med 3 to refer to !!

Hi c6,
The Assessing HCP makes the recommendations regarding the length of the prognosis in The ESA85 medical report.
The DWP DM then decides whether or not to stand by the recommended prognosis.
In reality the DM does generally stay with the recommended prognosis.
This will then be placed on your ESA File, and a month or so before that date it will flag up.
You would then be re-referred back to Maximus who should issue a fresh ESA50.
There is information on how The HCP should decide on the prognosis period from the bottom of page 137 onwards of The WCA Handbook under the heading 3.10 Medical Advice on Prognosis at Assessment
The link to The WCA Handbook can be found under "DWP ESA Resources" on : This Page.

With regards to this ...

Q. If the DM recommends a longer prognosis will that be reflected in the ESA85
Or will it only be noted on the DWP official files/ computer system.

No, the ESA85 would not be changed or amended at all to reflect any decision that the DM makes that may be contrary to the Assessor's recommendations in The ESA85.
If The DM alters the recommended prognosis this would be recorded on your ESA file which The ESA Call Responders have access to when you ring ESA.
It may also be recorded on The LT54 Form which I refer to in : This Post
