Thank you mazi, elisa and apricot too. Your thoughtful & helpful comments of your experiences really helped to keep me going forward, despite obstacles. Without this valuable website and people being so generous with their with their support, I imagine that many people are simply shockingly defeated by the PIP system.

Hi

It all depends on what the DWP decides.
If they allow it then everything will be fine.
If they don't you can appeal the decision.
Even though its not up to your GP it would help to get a letter from them to send in with the form but don't delay the form waiting for the letter, get it in as soon as you can.

The extension I'd asked for last week, was on top of the two weeks extra time to complete the form that DWP initially gave me when the form was sent.

Are you saying that I can Appeal if DWP don't give me another extension?

No, you cannot appeal the decision not to grant a further extension but you can appeal your claim being closed because you were unable to return the form within the timescales which might be due to your not receiving a further extension. We've not seen anyone go through this process so I can't give you any indication of how successful you might be.

It's not ideal but you might be better of returning an incomplete form within the timescales and then supplying the additional information as soon after as you can.

Your DLA will stop four weeks after any Decision on your PIP claim is made.

I would return an incomplete form but I am frightened that that would mean that they would automatically require me to come for a Face2Face to "fill in the blanks". I can't do that now & let alone under that pressure! Believe me I just want to see the back of it.

If DWP get the incomplete form now, would they then give me time to complete the rest of the PIP form ..... with my GP supporting letter?

My biggest hope was to meet the deadline, (with a completed form & supporting evidence) because I hoped they may be able to make a paper decision.

This is about choosing the least worst situation; returning an incomplete form and having to play catch up with the DWP to add the extra information versus having your DLA payments stopped for not returning any form and having to start from scratch.
