ESA Support Group and new PIP claim

Hi there, My husband is in support group for ESA- been in it for a couple of yrs now. We are in the process of gathering information for a claim for PIP from DLA. Just wondering if being in the support group will help him with the pip claim at all? Any info will be great- thanks in advance.

The criteria for PIP and ESA are very different. After all, it is entirely possible for someone to claim enhanced rate PIP and work full time.

However, if your husband's ESA was awarded for a descriptor that is similar to one for PIP (such as mobility), it might help to include prof of the award with the PIP claim. If you actually have a copy of the assessor's report (ESA85 if he had a face2face assessment, ESA85a if he did not) then this might also be helpful - you can ask DWP for one if you don't already have it.

For my husband's ESA assessment we got a letter from doctors to request a home assessment- then we got a letter from Atos saying he doesn't need to attend an examination at the moment and that the case as been referred back to our local social security office.
Would the letter from doctors and Atos help with his new PIP claim?

The doctors letter doesn't say nothing about ESA, it does state in the letter that my husband is wheelchair bound and that he suffers with chronic back pain due to a motorbike accident he had. It also states his medication as well.

So that should be ok to put in with the claim?

I'm getting statements from family members as well- which i hope will help.

Sorry about all these questions, all this PIP stuff is new to me- I'm just gathering as much info as i can to support my husband claim for PIP. We did ok when it was DLA.

My husband is worried as he doesn't want to lose his mobility car as that's the only bit of independence he as left.
