Hi
My wife had her assessment at home this morning. It lasted an hour and a quarter. The woman was very nice but said she only had an hour to do the assessment and seemed anxious not to overrun the assessment but she did in the end anyway. We had further evidence in the form of the esa medical report from last year and Dr's letter dated this Monday regarding the osteoporosis scan results. But she said that she couldn't take them as it was a home visit and gave us an envelope to post them to a Wolverhampton address. My wife said that she wanted the assessor to read them before she did her report but she said she could not and they had to be posted. She said it would be 4 to 6 weeks before we had a decision. The assessment was very thorough. She did ask my wife if she drove. She said sometimes/rarely as I did the driving when we go out. Anyway I understand from reading information on this site we can ask for a copy of the report in a few days . So we may get an idea of the outcome. My wife has numerous medical conditions and the assessor did say that there was plenty evidence she had seen with my original pip2 form. She said she had read my wife's pip2 form before the assessment and we could see she had written notes. So hopefully my wife will get the decision she deserves.

Regards
Peter

Hi
Could you tell me please how long we should wait before we ask for a copy of the assessor's report if they did the assessment today?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

Give it a few days, maybe a week, and then you can request a copy of the report. Most claimants get it sent out with no problem but we have had a few members being told they must wait until a decision has been made.

Hi

My wife called today and asked for a copy of the medical report. Also she asked them to check and see if the extra evidence we had sent had got there today as we had sent it guaranteed next day delivery..which actually arrived on the same day! She also checked that every piece of evidence had been scanned in and it had. Anyway they then said that the report was on the system even though my wife's assessment was only yesterday 13th October. So she asked for a copy and they said they would send the request to the case manager. But as she was entitled to see her medical report this was not a problem. So just wait and see now. Am I right in saying that if pip is awarded it is backdated from the date of the claim which was 3rd September when the first phone call was made re the pip1 form?

Thanks for all your advice

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter,

If your wife was previously on DLA, the PIP decision will come into effect in 1 months time. If it was a new claim, payment will be backdated to the day of the initial phonecall.

Hi

We have just had a copy of my wife's pip medical report as requested. According to the assessor she has awarded 14 points for care but only 10 for mobility.

She states that my wife can walk to our car approximately 15m and back in one day (with crutches) but may not recover for 2 days so it is reasonable to suggest that she could move 50 metres with aids reliably.

My wife could not repeatedly or reliably do this without significant pain, tiredness and without stopping for a break. The assessor even states that " the MSO identified significance reduced power in her legs along with her other disabilities.

We did put in the pip form how much constant significant psin and exhaustion walking on crutches causes her. Her physio wrote a letter explaining how she needs to be pushed in a wheelchair when she is out as she cannot propel one her self. My wife cannot repeatedly and reliably walk 20m.

I notice that under the moving around descriptor the assessor puts " could move 20 metres but no more than 50 metres with aids reliably" there is no mention of repeatedly.

I know this is not the final decision but from what I can tell the Decision Maker tends to go with the assessor's recommendations.

I assume there's no point in doing anything yet until we get the decision letter?

My wife is distraught as she has a motability car (she's been on higher rate dla for 25 years) this is the only way she can leave the house. We cannot afford a car without motability.

Would a letter from her physio stating that she could not repeatedly and reliably walk 20m be enough if we have to ask for a MR?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you
Regards
Peter W
