We only include a couple of examples for each activity because it is not really the condition that the DWP are interested in but the effects that it has on the claimant which will be specific to the person,

As a suggestion, break each activity down in to component parts and think about your ability to complete them and how an aid or appliance might help you or not.

So for Preparing Food as an example. typically you will stand at the worktop or hob, can you do this? Why not? Would a perching stool help? Why not? You need to peel and cut up vegetables, can you? What stops you? Could you do it if you had something to hold the vegetables still?

Remember you must do the activities reliably and on the majority of days not to score points, see the Claim guide, not to score points.

onestep wrote: I suffer from fibromyalgia, on good days I can drive tbh its my life line, I'm on support ESA and have recently applied for pip but after becoming a member on here and reading the PIP members documents I think it sounds almost impossible to make a successful PIP claim if you admit to being able to drive a car even if it is only on a good day. Advice anyone?

It's not that you drive, PIP does not consider this, but driving will imply certain levels of functionality, so if you say you have problems with your hands, how do you hold the wheel for long periods? Using the pedals will imply reasonable functionality in your legs and would suggest that you do not have significant pain, you would be expected to navigate and it will undermine suggestions that you can't go out alone.

However, there may be very specific circumstances in which you can go out and drive and doing so may have a impact on your conditions in the following days.

So an I correct in thinking that saying I do certain activities but need an aid to help and that they may impact my condition in the following hours/days may score more points than by simply answering "my wife does all the cooking"

Quite possibly, I can only advise you to tell the truth about anything you are asked.

You need to clearly explain how/why you cannot do something, otherwise DWP will simply assume that you prefer not to do it.

If you have tried to do the activity and had problems then tell them this. Also if you get pain and/or fatigue later.
