Hi Jennie,

Although most people report their ESA claim being decided fairly quickly, where there are delays, they seem to be long ones :(

Have you tried contacting your MP? Whilst they are not able to interfere with the actual decision, they can be useful in getting things moving in cases like yours.

I was wondering about that. I do have a local one that is very very good but I am not sure how he could possibly help

Although it is DWP practice to allow the Assessment Providers to manage the whole assessment process, they do have the ability to prioritise a claim if they wish, it's possible that you MP may be able to "encourage" them to do this.

have spoken with my local Councillor (who knows of me anyway through my brother) and he is meeting with his colleagues this evening, one of which specializes in dealing with DWP matters so hopefully they can help me.

Just to thank you for your advice. I contacted my local MP a few weeks ago and he wrote to the DWP just before Christmas regarding speeding my home assessment visit and yayyyyyyyyyy my appointment came through yesterday for 25th of this month. I can't believe it, I have waited nearly a year for this.

I have been on the standard rate for around 15 months now and hope to be upped after my assessment. I am obviously worried about messing the assessment up. Is there an info pack on the actual assessment I can read please so I don't get caught out?

Many thanks
