Hi ref my last few posts,I finally got the medical report which has the Doctors details on it that looked at my claim. As you are aware I have been given the max time in the support group, which I am thankful for indeed.

As I am on DLA and high rate for both at present I was keen to get this report as like everyone else I will be asked to apply for PIP at some stage, and was kind of hoping perhaps I could use this medical report from them as further evidence to help me with my claim for PIP.

I filled in the ESA form and did not tick any boxes in part 1-physical capabilities and just wrote N/A please see further info in the box and explained my situation there and I did say I have difficulty in walking even 20 metres because of the limitations I suffer.

The report states the evidence considered the Questionnaire,Med 3 (I dont know what that is) consultant letters,GP letter and report from 2013.
then goes on The Med 3, Questionnaire and medical evidence suggests the client cannot mobilise 50 metres repeatedly, within a reasonable timescale and unaided by another person, because of significant discomfort or exhaustion etc. Even though I never mentioned 50 metres.

I do know that PIP and ESA are two different benefits, but I was wondering with the above words written about me from their Dr does that mean I would not be able to get high rate on Motability owing to the DWP changing their metres for PIP,as I am seriously considering getting a car on the scheme to get me out and about as I have to depend to much on my friends to take me for appts etc.I would not like to get a car and then in a few months time they take it off me.I have tried to get finance to get a car myself but with me on benefits etc and the state of my health cant get a penny anywhere to help me.

I would appreciate your views on this but with reading here with so many people having lost their claims I am very cautions to move forward with any plans.Thank you.

Hi kv,

The 'med 3' is a GP's fitnote/sicknote. This is often itemised as evidence, even when the claimant has not had such a note for many years! We think this is added automatically by the computer.

The ESA assessor's report would not be enough to get you enhanced mobility PIP. As you say, the distance for PIP is now 20 meters - so you would have to submit more evidence or explain your situation fully in order to be awarded the enhanced PIP rate. The claimant must have 1 year remaining on the DLA/PIP mobility in order to take out a Motability contract.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thank you Mrs Hurtyback,I thought as much,I mentioned all the stuff about stopping for breath cause of pain and the likes, but it is very very hard for a person to explain in words for such a short distance. I think I will just have to depend on my friends and taxis to take me from a to b for the mean time, but you can get very down with such a set up.Thank you for your help.

Hi, I was wondering if you could give me advice re the following please.
As yet I have not been invited to apply for PIP, at the moment on DLA h/r for both.

I see from other members on the site that have made the change over at there first phone call they have been asked do you want us DWP to refer to your DLA application.

The question is ,surely this would not be a bad thing if say someone was on DLA for long term as they have passed that test to get the benefit. I was looking back at my application for DLA in 2002 and I see the part Walking Outdoors which I ticked yes to,and then went further and explained in the box how it affects me and at the bottom of the page it asks (tell us roughly how far you can walk before you feel severe discomfort, for example before you need to stop and rest) I see I wrote approx 20 yards I scored out metres but I think this is 18.2 metres then it asks how long would take I said approx 4 mins and it affects me 7 days a week and to be truthful some days I would not even have the energy to do that.I note that the PIP requirement is 20 metres for h/r motability.

If at the time then when PIP affects me would you say I should say yes use the previous DLA application and would this then not require me to fill in the PIP form ,although I see you have said many times the questions have changed from DLA to PIP.

Just a thought so I am prepared for it when it comes along..Thanks

Sorry I also have forgot to mention that I did a update on my DLA in 2013 and I see that I wrote on page 9 number 21 asks how far can you normally walk(including any short stops)before you feel severe discomfort? I wrote 16 metres and then average of 4mins to there next q .

My health problems have not changed from then and infact has got worse and I have consultant letters to back that up which have been written out in past few months.

Thanks again.
