I completed and returned my ESA50 in March (moving from SDA) stating that a home assessment would be necessary, however I recently received a letter asking me to attend an assessment centre. My husband called and stated that we needed a home visit and we were advised to ask my GP to send a fax with covering details, which the GP duly did. My husband called the assessment centre today to confirm receipt of the fax. He was advised that they have received it and it had been passed to their doctor .....(this is where my husband got a bit confused as he's not too good on the phone.) The lady said something like 'Our doctor has got all the information he needs and has returned the claim to the DWP, so your wife doesn't need to attend the assessment' Does anyone know exactly what this might mean ? We were just told to wait to hear from DWP.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

From your description of the call, it sounds as if Maximus have been able to make a recommendation for an award. You cannot be found Fit for Work without a face to face assessment, but you will need to wait for the DWP to make a Decision.

ESA Decision are currently taking a couple of weeks.

This is the information in the link -

If your full name is showing next to posts you have made in the forum and you do not want this to happen, the you have two options available.

First, you can request that it is changed to a new value.

To change your name on future posts, please contact tech @ benefitsandwork.co.uk. (remove the spaces around the @).

Alternatively, you can update it your self.

Click on the Profile button at the top of the topic list on the forum page.
On the new page there is an Edit button on the right, click on this.
On the next page you can change the Name field which is value displayed in the forum.
Enter your Forum Password into the Password and Verify Password fields.
Click on the Save button to complete the change.
If your name appears in the body of any posts, for example; because one of your posts was quoted, then you should reply to the topic in question and explain the problem.

When the system is updated with your new name, all previous posts will have the new name against them.

Hi again . Thanks for your previous comments and help with my (on line name) ..
Ok, I've received 2 letters today.
(1) A healthcare professional has reviewed the further medical evidence received and in respect of this has now decided that it is no longer necessary that you undergo an assessment at this time. Any current appointments have therefore been cancelled.Your file has been returned to DWP.
(2) We recently asked you to attend an assessment at ~~~~~~~~~~ This was in relation to your benefit claim. We no longer need you to come for this assessment. Please do not come to this assessment centre as this appointment has been cancelled.

I can only assume this is good news ?

I still don't know what this means, if anyone can help please ?
I'm also sure that I saw somewhere, DWP can still demand an assessment even if the assessment centre has sent it back to them stating I don't need one ?
