PIP Guide for MP's posted in the House of Commons library today :

Introduction to PIP

PLEASE NOTE, the guide states it hasn't been updated since November 2012 which must be a mistake since it refers to amongst other things the Chancellor's Autumn Statement made on 5/12/2013.

Introduction
This document explains how DWP will manage the release of statistics and related information on PIP. This document was updated in February 2014 and replaces the December 2013 version of the release strategy.

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) has been replaced by Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for people aged 16 to 64 from 8 April 2013. The introduction of PIP is part of a wider reform of the welfare system. Further details on PIP can be accessed here:

www.gov.uk/government/policies/simplifyi...independence-payment

DWP officials are also planning an evaluation of Personal Independence Payment, which will involve the commissioning of new research projects. Outline evaluation plans were published on the DWP website in December 2012 (www.gov.uk/government/publications/evalu...policy-briefing-note). Research reports will be published in line with Government Social Research protocols. The publication of commissioned research reports is pre-announced on the DWP website.

For a list of all DWP research reports that have been pre-announced for publication in the coming weeks, please see:
www.gov.uk/government/organisations/depa...sions/about/research
Release strategy and timetable

Although limited data has started to feed through from the PIP Computer System, we need to wait until it has been quality assured and meaningful figures for publication can be developed. The Department is working to guidelines set by the UK Statistics Authority to ensure we are able to publish statistics that meet high quality standards at the earliest opportunity. We intend to publish Official Statistics on new claims to PIP for the first time in Spring 2014 aligned to the DLA National Statistics release.

PIP figures will initially be released as ‘Official Statistics – awaiting assessment’ which means they are awaiting certification by the UK Statistics Authority to make sure they are compliant with the Code of Practice.
Version 3.0 February 2014
Official statistics on PIP will be published regularly via the Department’s
quarterly Statistical Summary and a tabulation tool (StatXplore), which allows
users to produce their own bespoke tables and visualisations so that the
figures can be viewed via tables, graphs, and maps.
In order to manage the gap between Personal Independence Payment go-live
and the first release of Official Statistics in Spring 2014, an ad-hoc release of
PIP management information was published on 11 February 2014. The
release is available here: www.gov.uk/government/collections/ad-hocstatistical-
analysis-2014-quarter-1
This covers volumes of PIP new claims registered and decisions made
between April 2013 and December 2013, and the award rates for decisions
made. Breakdowns for new claims not made under the Special Rules for
Terminally Ill people and new claims made under the Special Rules for
Terminally Ill people are given. It does not incorporate process information
such as clearance times or provider performance.
Coverage of PIP statistics
The data source for PIP will eventually allow a wide range of breakdowns to
be published albeit these will be introduced gradually following work to
establish they are of sufficient quality.
Through releasing statistics our aim is to place in the public domain the
information that we are likely to receive regular requests for, or that the
Department may want to use publicly, including PQs and Freedom of
Information Requests. This includes, for new claims to PIP:
 caseloads and claimant characteristic, such as age, gender, and
medical condition(s)
 geographies including Local Authority and Parliamentary Constituency
 numbers claiming different PIP components (daily living and/or
mobility)
Later releases may be extended to include:
 average amounts of benefit in payment
 on-flows, off-flows and durations
 flows onto PIP as a result of natural reassessment (including reporting
on the gradual introduction of natural reassessment)
 numbers of reconsideration and appeals
 overlaps with other benefits including Universal Credit or employment
programmes
It will not include process information such as clearance times or provider
performance.
Version 3.0 February 2014
The process by which Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) statistics will be published, is under review. Further details will be published here.
Official statistics on PIP tribunals will be published by the Ministry of Justice as part of their quarterly statistics release.
The MOJ publication timetable is here:
www.gov.uk/government/organisations/mini...publication-schedule
And the quarterly publication is here:
www.gov.uk/government/organisations/mini...tribunals-statistics
Productivity figures for PIP will also be incorporated into the disability productivity measures published annually in the departments Annual Report and Accounts and provided to the Office of National Statistics to support calculations of GDP for National Accounts and understand public sector productivity.

See below :

The most current PIP Assessment Guide dated 27/05/14.

This DWP guidance document is for providers carrying out assessments for Personal Independence Payment, and is well worth a read !!

It gives revised advice on several issues, including :

Advice on how the number of Face to Face Assessments should be kept to a minimum. (See Page 26. 2.5)

Fresh guidance on "Repeatedly, Reliability and Safely". (See Page 82. 3.3)

Plus much more.

There is a contents index on Page 3. of the document.

Please remember, as with The ESA WCA Handbook, this is "Guidance" and not legislation.

However, where at all possible PIP Assessment Providers (ATOS/CAPITA) should adhere to said "Guidance".

From the link provided by bro59, migration of current DLA claimants to PIP will not start until October 2015, but by then we will have had a General Election, so who knows what will happen, until a new Government is formed in May 2015 ?
