ILF protestors attempt to get into Commons chamber

Around 20 campaigners tried to get into the House of Commons chamber during prime ministers questions today in protest at the ending of the independent living fund. Commons officials prevented broadcasters filming the events.

One protestor and their carer were ejected from Westminster but no arrests were made.

A DWP spokesperson accused protestors of scaremongering.

Hi all,
papasmurf - Thanks for the link - this Gov't hates ANY opposition.
tintack - as always my friend, you are spot on with this! I am also sure that this eventuality will most definitely occur.
Matata2011 & Chrissy - Yes, exactly so - and also, come this upcoming
'Budget Day' on Wednesday 8th July - there is likely to be a demonstration occurring outside Westminster (and afterwards also inside the Lobby area of the Commons - the more people who demonstrate the better - it is called: balls to austerity)

Can't have the public knowing about this, can we? Isn't democracy marvellous?

A DWP spokesperson accused protestors of scaremongering.
So those who will be directly affected by this are scaremongering? Good grief. Is there something in the water at the DWP?

It's not hard to see what the government is doing. Claim that the ILF isn't being abolished, just devolved to local councils. When councils don't protect the funding because the government is slashing their budgets, the money will no longer be available. At this point the government will say "don't blame us, it's the councils' fault".
