Hi Michael,

You don't need to apply for these payments, they are paid automatically if you qualify, which you do.

The fact that you haven't yet received any payment is no doubt due to the Christmas/New Year holidays. Many DWP offices closed on Christmas Eve, and don't reopen until Monday 4 January.

If you don't receive them in the next seven days, I'd advise that you contact the local office that pays your IS.

Happy New Year.

Jim

Hi, do I qualify for cold weather payments? I get DLA lower rate mobility and my husband gets longterm IB, plus I'm on a state pension.

I know that there's been a cold weather condition in my area at least once but I haven't received anything. However, all I can see in the Govt guidelines is pension credit and ESA - so do I qualify?

Cold weather payments are made if the temperature in your area falls to 0 degrees or less and you're on a low income.

Full details can be found on the DirectGov website Cold Weather Payment

:( I looked on the DirectGov website and put in my postcode and it said that I should have received a cold weather payment for the end of 2009. I did not recieve it, nor did I receive the Xmas bonus. I didn't phone about the bonus because I don't want to burden anyone, but I'm not happy to sit around in my coat, gloves and hat while indoors, as it makes it harder to move about and is quite depressing. Who do I phone about the cold weather payment? thank you for any advice.

My son is on ESA (Income related) - should he get CWPs?

ESA stopped paying him for four weeks (no-one knows why), so they possibly wouldn't have issued them to him even if he was entitled.

Thanks.

Thanks Kazzen for posting this question. It will be interesting to hear the answer to this question as my son is also on income related ESA. Following on from your question, I would like to know if he has to be a home owner or live in rented accommodation to qualify or would he still be eligible living with his parents who don't claim any benefits.
