PIP claim timscales was created by Holysmoke
Hello everyone,

Received my transfer from DLA to PIP forms two weeks ago and duly returned them last week.
How long is it normally taking for people to get some form of reaction from the DWP and do they generally call you at home whilst they are looking at your file?

Cheers,
HS

Hi Hs,

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Your PIP2 form will have been sent directly to the assessment provider (ATOS or Capita, depending on your postcode) and it is this organisation who will decide whether you are invited to a face2face assessment or whether a recommendation can be made to DWP from the paperwork you have submitted.

The early part of the PIP claim process is usually quite quick and many claimants hear something within 2-4 weeks - although there are considerable delays in some areas.

I would expect you to hear either from the assessment provider with an appointment, or from DWP to say that they now have your case file back.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

I would expect the Assessment Provider for your area to contact you within two weeks and there to be an appointment for some two weeks after that, if one is required.

There's no reason for the DWP to contact you at this time and you should be cautious about any calls from the AP, especially if they are in regard an appointment, you are entitled to seven days written notice so don't get talked into an earlier assessment unless it is more convenient for you.

UPDATE

January received pip paper application form. February received confirmation from Capita that they had my paperwork and would be in touch. July and I have had my face to face with the assessor. 7 months has seemed like a lifetime and I concur with everyone about the stress of it all.
My assessor was professional but I was unnerved by having an additional observer in the room.
At the end of my assessment I was informed that I had nothing to worry about and she clearly stated I should M R should the decision maker disagree with her report.
Fingers x for some good news.

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

PIP Decisions are taking 2-4 weeks at the moment.
