Taking over Carer's Allowance was created by Alexander
Hi.

I left work on the 23rd June to take over the care of my partner and unborn baby boy. My partner receives PIP and her mother, at the time claimed the carer's, she has since cancelled her claim. So my question is:

I put my claim in on the 24th June but my partners mother didn't cancel her claim until about the 9th July. When the assessor looks at my claim will he/she use common sense and start my claim from the 10th July or will it be completely rejected and I then have to put in another claim and wait another 8 weeks?

We are surviving off PIP alone till carer's comes in and then we will be entitled to joint income support based on the fact I'm a carer so obviously need all this sorted quickly

One of the first things on the form (online or paper), asks when you want your claim to start from, what did you put if not 10 July?
