PIP Assessment was created by HaplessFool
Hi there,
First time here.

I suffer from a form of Autism and have had a letter telling me I need to attend a PIP Assessment. My mum has spoken to ATOS and has been advised that if this is difficult for me I need to get a letter from my doctor asking for me to be excused from an assessment.

My doctor is willing to do this but he is on leave at the moment (he actually took time out of his holiday to reply to my email).

My initial assessment was cancelled but I have a newone for the 10th. Mum has phoned ATOS again this morning to explain that my doctor is happy to provide a letter once he's returned from leave and that we don't know when that may be and the 10th is not all that far away really.

ATOS, or whatever their new name is, has said we need to send the letter to the DWP. Mum forgot to ask for the exact address and won't call again. Does anyone know what address I should send this letter too?

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Who cancelled the first appointment? If it was you (or your mother) then you have no choice but to attend the appointment on the 10th if it is not accepted that you need a home assessment. Claimants can only re-arrange the appointment once.

Failing to attend will result in your file being returned to the DWP and whilst they will contact you to find out why you didn't, it will be very likely that your claim will be closed.

Is there anybody else at your GP surgery that could do the letter for you? They will need to explain why you cannot attend at ATOS's offices.
