Mandatory reconsideration process was created by percey
Hello,

I'm seeking help regarding the best way to go about the mandatory reconsideration process, as I've just received news that I've been placed in WRAG after being in the support group for quite a few years. The DWP advised me to write a letter, I later read on the site information that letters have a slim chance of success. Just wondering if I still have a choice now I've contacted the DWP and what others experience of a mandatory reconsideration via telephone has been.
Many thanks.

Hi Henrietta and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

It is not the fact that the MR was requested in writing that renders if likely to fail. The simple fact is that it is uncommon for MRs to do anything other than 'rubber stamp' the original decision. Nevertheless, it is a mandatory step before the claimant can appeal.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your ESA without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)
