Hi C,

Yes, why not ?

If you are starting your PIP claim next Monday, you will be sending copy of the letter with your PIP 2 form within 5-6 weeks !

Decided to ask my GP for the letter , cos like you said only 5/6 weeks away - she said she would do such a letter but not till they ask! I guess I will have to say on the form that my GP is prepared to do the home assessment recommendation letter when they ask for it!

Hi C,

You need to make it clear to your G.P. that the odds are that the AP will not contact them even if you request that they do so, they seldom do !!!

They have no legal obligation to contact your G.P., so if you don't get one off your G.P. now, if The PIP Assessment Provider (AP) make an appointment for you to attend a F2F at one of their centres, you will then have to pester your G.P. again to write a letter and FAX it to The AP.

All this, "I will provide a letter when they request one" from G.P.'s is a load of rubbish and a cop out in most cases, so it's up to you !!!

Hi Cruella
I am having counselling and am being supported by Victim Support. Although my circumstances somewhat differ from yours I suffer with several physical and mental health issues.
I have had my assessment but was fully prepared with supporting written evidence.
I will explain that although Victim Support do not give a written statement they did give me a letter confirming they are supporting me emotionally. I do suffer with very complexed conditions and this is a very stressful situation most of us are finding ourselves in. I have received lots of support from this forum and especially the moderators.
Try and gather as much information as possible. Carefully read all points on the form and most of all explain your phobia in detail. If this phobia stops you from leaving the house then ask your doctor to write a letter asking for a home assessment. I hope you have a supportive GP as I do. Good Luck and try not to worry x

Cruella wrote: Also as discussed prev with Gordon, I was ill advised by the DWP regarding eligibility for Contrib Based ESA. The advisors back in 2014 failed to inform me of special rules for carers. I have found this out myself just recently by reading legislation. I was eligible then but am not now. If I got a fit note and backdated it to Dec , then I would meet one condition but not the other. So I assume there is no point. I assume my claiming with a note saying about the ill advice back in 2014 would not get me anywhere. Just double checking as I am speaking to my doctor shortly and have the opportunity to ask for a fit note

I've explained this in detail on your ESA topic.
