Hello all,

We have a really complicated situation and it may be beyond the scope of this group but if anyone can offer guidance I would really appreciate it. In brief:

- My husband and I both work part time (three kids) and claim tax credits (working and family)
- My husband had a stroke in Feb of this year and we have claimed PIP (in the process of appealing as we feel the decision was wrong (help on here excellent, thank you))
- My husband is 'employed' by his own LTD company which is currently making very little money.

The real problem is that hubby works for his own Ltd company. We declare hours worked and income received so he gets a P60 each year which we use for claiming tax credits. He gets no other income from his company.

What really terrifies me is
(1) Is this actually okay - or are we doing things wrong?
(2) We need to amend things to truthfully reflect our current situation but I don't want to appear to be cheating the system.. I want to do things correctly but need to know the consequences of the changes we make (ie reducing his 'hours' and income).
(3) We have received a letter from tax credits asking if we are now entitled to the disability element of tax credits - again I don't want to 'rock the boat' but need to do things correctly.

We do depend on the tax credits that we receive to pay the mortgage so am terrified that if it gets stopped we will be in real trouble.

Thanks in advance.

I'm really sorry but we don't advise on Tax Credits on the forum, I would advise you to get face to face advice from a trained advisor, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with you postcode, town or county.

Thank you Gordon.
I thought that this might be the case - I think I will call into my local CAB next week.

Kindest regards,
