Blue Badge Appeal Advice was created by Christine
I am a 4th generation Asthmatic and added bronchiectasis by the age 6. In addition recurrent ear infections lead to needing hearing aids at 21. Together these problems are called COPD. Knowing that the basis of my 'problem' was I announced that I had no intention having children nor have I married - i am alone.
In my 50's the new 'problem' treat by the GP as 'change of life' turned out to be a meningioma which was diagnosed when it damaged the sight in my right eye. Post operation the hospital assistants organized DLA and a Blue Badge.
Well the DLA has now been replaced by PIP's (so it is accepted that I do have a problem!). However I don't need a walking stick or a wheel chair so I don't need a Blue badge.
This year annual COPD check gave me an MRC3 score which means a maximum walking distance of 1 mile and yesterday I finished the first course of anti-antibiotics I have needed since January. I am walking more than a mile and public transport exposes me to the common cold which for me means strong drugs,
How do I appeal against the loss of the Blue Badge?

You haven't explained why you have lost your Blue Badge?

Without this we cannot explain any options you might have for receiving one.

As part of the DLA/PIP interview (90 minutes long) they covered in fine detail all of my medical history. It was 6 weeks before I finally received the letter accepting that I should have PIP payments.
However I do not use a walking stick or a wheelchair therefore I don't kneed a Blue Badge.
I did appeal and received the same answer.
In the subsequent months I have really noticed the lack of the badge. There is no chance of having a parking spot near to where ever I am going, the cost of parking has eaten a real hole in my cash situation and I feel very depressed.

You seem to have a PIP award does this include Mobility and did you score 8 or more points for the Moving Around activity?

If you didn't then you can still make a direct claim to your Local Authority for a Blue Bade.
