Hi I am worried sick. I suffer with really severe depression and I have two or three severe anger episodes a day. My life is at its lowest and I suffer with constant suicidal thoughts that plague my mind. I am receiving CBT and I have a psychiatrist helping me to try to cope. I was awarded PIP about 12 months ago and this has been set until 2018. I lost my job after over 30 years in employment due to my worsening illness. I am on 70mg Clomipramine a day. After losing my job I applied for Contribution based ESA as my wife works. I was awarded standard rate ESA. I hate being unable to work. Now ESA have written telling me I need to go for an assessment in two weeks.
I am in a state of panic. If in worse case scenario my ESA is stopped, can they stop my PIP also based on the ESA assessment or are they a separate entity?
Please can someone put my mind at rest with this.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Being asked to attend an assessment is a normal part of the process and does not mean that your ESA will be stopped :)

ESA and PIP are separate benefits with their own criteria although there are some areas of crossover. We have not seen a negative ESA Decision result in a claimant losing there PIP award.
