Hi leetstreet, sorry I have just seen your message.
I am still waiting on my appeal's hearing date. RNIB advised me that it will be either in Feb orMarch 2018.

Hi Gordon,
I'm still waiting for the appeal hearing
I have few confusions about preparing food activity - :
1) is one course simple meal [from the fresh ingredients] defined in the law? can simple meal be only vegetarian or it can be non-veg?
The reason I am asking is because my assessor asked me if I can cook a simple meal out of two vegetables using a microwave....
do you think this option can be discussed at the appeal by the panel considering my visual impairment that it may be safe to to use microwave? I really don't know that microwave can be used to cook veg and non-veg....

2) Preparing food descriptor c - why the descriptor doesn't include preparing food aspect?

3) does this activity also include transferring food from pans to plate?

Many thanks

1. The simple meal is not vegetarian although it can be.

2. Assume that food preparation is included. It's the different cooking method that is covered by this Descriptor.

3. Yes it does, but check for the use of aids to do this.

Thanks Gordon
Sorry I may need more clarification on this:
do you think Microwave cooking option can be discussed at the appeal by the panel considering my visual impairment that it may be safe to to use microwave?
also do you know if Microwave can be used to cook non-veg as I like non-veg most of the times?

There is some dependency on the microwave and the cooking containers available but there should be no problem cooking non vegetable items in a microwave, I've actually cooked a roast chicken with all the trimmings in a standard microwave.

All of the legal definitions are included in the PIP Claim guide.
