Urgent advice required please,

As my wife's PIP claim was due to run out on 23rd March 2017, in early Feb we received the DWP PIP2 form which we duly completed and returned.

On 16th Feb, I contacted the DWP to check everything was ok with the form and all relevant info had been received. I was informed all was in order and that the claim had been referred to Atos for review.

On 6th March, I chased the DWP for an update and was informed that on 17th February the claim had been referred to Atos for a home visit as my wife is unable to attend the health assessment centre.

As I was getting concerned that we hadn't heard anything from either the DWP or Atos I contacted DWP , on 20th March 2017, who gave me Atos' contact details. I immediately rang Atos who told me that a letter giving an appointment would be sent and that if I hadn't received it by 24th Match 2017 I should call back.

As nothing has been received, today, (27th March 2017) I rang Atos who have just informed me that not only has no date has been set but they cannot give me an idea as to when the appointment will be due to lack of personnel covering our area. I suggested that a telephone interview could be an alternative solution but was informed that no such service exists for PIP claims.

It was 6 weeks on Friday from the date Atos received my wife's details , her previous PIP award has now run out and we are going to experience significant financial hardship unless this matter is sorted ASAP!

Please can you advise what I should do next.
Do Atos have a time limit to complete medicals ?

I'm afraid there is no timescale for a PIP assessment to be completed within.

My recommendation is that you contact you your MP to see if they can get ATOS to give you an early appointment.

Contacting your MP

Thanks for getting back so quickly. Is it worth chasing the DWP or is that a waste of time?

You can chase them but they are usually loathe to override the Assessment Provider, they will pay more attention to your MP.

It would be worth pointing out to your MP when you received the form, this should have been with you no later than 13 weeks before your wife's claim ended, so mid December at the latest.

Gordon,

Is it correct that telephone interviews are not available?

I have never heard of an assessment being done over the phone.
