DLA to PIP - PIP 1 questions was created by mangof
Hi,

I have to call the DWP by 29 April. Is the phone line open on a Saturday? - wondering if I can leave it until the very last minute.

I have looked at the sample PIP 1 form and I'm not sure whether to agree to let them look at my old DLA evidence.

1) my last claim was in 2008 - will they still have the details?

2) I'm not sure if I still have a copy myself.

3) given DLA and PIP are quite different I'm not sure how much of a help it would be to the DWP/ATOS. The focus might be quite different and not all of it relevant. I do believe I qualify for PIP. My condition is still severe but perhaps a little different in some ways (while a lot the same).

4) if i say no don't look at my last DLA claim would that make it more likely I'd have to attend a medical?

5) will they ask to look at my ESA claim evidence (last was in 2012)?

I currently have an indefinite award for mental health problems.

Thank you

I would not push it any more and would make the phone call tomorrow, you only need to have problems getting through or your not feeling well enough to make the call and you are suddenly over the required date.

Only you can decide whether to use your previous DLA evidence, does it reflect your limitations as they are now?

Whilst they use the reports from your ESA assessment, it will be their decision to do so or not. If you think that it will be helpful then you should include the information yourself when you complete the PIP2, that way you can integrate it into your answers on the form.

Thank you.

I will have a think about DLA evidence. I suppose I am wondering if I say no would that prejudice them against me anyway?

Even though some of it might be possibly useful (I'm not sure because I don't have copies). I am planning to send in up to date evidence from my counsellor which addresses the PIP criteria. My GP would probably only write something quite brief and general (although they support my claim in principle).

I can't remember anyone saying that they felt they had been disadvantaged by not having the DLA paperwork used.

We always recommend that members submit everything they want to be taken into account, rather than depending on DWP and/or the assessor getting this themselves.

Thanks.

I've just noticed there's request your DLA evidence is sent to you before it is used. Have any members gone for that option that you know of?

Sorry to do another post - I also meant ask how long the pip2 form takes to come through once you've rung up?
